We currently have three gardens in which we grow our vegetables, the original garden we started which is located in the sand hills by Cavalier, ND and two new gardens in Tabor MN and The Riverbend just outside of East Grand Forks, MN.
The Sand Hills
This garden is located in Pembina County just North West of Cavalier, ND. It sits on what used to be the shores of the glacial lake, Lake Agassiz therefore the soil in it is sandy and not as heavy as the soil in most of the Red River Valley. The garden is located on land owned by my family and was our first major attempt to produce fresh vegetables and fruits. It has two seperate gardens which combine makes our second biggest garden.
This garden is located in Tabor township in Polk County Minnesota. This is garden space that we have just aquired use of this year although the land was previously used as garden space before. It is our smallest garden but it produces fresh quality vegetables.
This garden is located in Polk County just outside of East Grand Forks, MN. This is another garden space that we have just aquired this year and unlike the other two this garden is new ground that was previously pasture for horses. We worked up the ground just this past May 2016 and it has been a challenge. This previously untested ground has proven to be worth the effort so far. It is our biggest single garden.
